I got a sewing machine!

I have always loved doing crafts and making things to decorate my home with. It never feels the same to just buy something pretty when I can make something with my own hands. So after living in our home for a year, I've actually started to decorate(other then a few pictures).

The first things I decided to make were some pillow covers for my living room pillows (blue, green and brown pillows don't go well with a dark red couch). I decided on this beige fabric with red drawings, I got it a few years ago from an aunt that was downsizing her own craft station.

The fabric goes great with the couches and looks much better then the mismatched pillows we were using.

I used a simple envelope design as you can see here. I've been debating adding some buttons or something to keep it from opening up.
I love the end product! They turned out just how I wanted, even though it took some trial and error.

"Holiness to the Lord, the House of the Lord"

I'm an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And this week I'll have the opportunity to visit an open house for our local temple. I love the temple, it has brought me great peace and comfort.
A few weeks ago I had the chance volunteer at the open house. I was one of those people that put shoe covers on. I had many people comment in different ways. One person asked how we managed to get that job. Like it wasn't worth her time. And in all reality there is no small job, all are needed.
Another comment was "I feel like a prince."(Loved this!) This activity of placing shoe covers on people is very similar to Jesus Christ washing His disciples feet.
We are all loved by Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. I am so grateful to have a temple near me and to have a wonderful ward where I have found many friends.

My first attempt at an outfit post

Please forgive the bad photography and the weird posing. :) At least I had fun!

Is fall here yet? mmm... This shirt doesn't look as good as I thought it did.

Oops, it's still shooting!

 Why are cameras so difficult!?

Ahh... no.

Hopefully with some  practice I'll get better. And maybe I'll actually make some better clothing choices. Thanks for putting up with me. And if you have any input please let me know. I'll try and do this again. Just keep in mind. I do this to improve myself, not to impress anyone.

Some days don't go so well

All I have at home is one little one but today I feel like it's a mad house. I can't seem to do anything right today. It started out great. I even exercised and went on a walk with the little one and from then on... I feel like I'm having withdrawals. From what, I don't know. It's just one of those days. For dinner I'm sure we'll just be having mac and cheese(simple, no cooking today!)
I was even pathetic enough to call my husband at work, and all I got in was an "I miss you:. But of course he's at work, he can't talk. I wish he could. :(
The lonely life of stay-at-home moms... Not really there are just days it feels like that. Other days I manage to actually have an adult conversation with someone other then my husband. Maybe I should try that today...
Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers. I could use it today.

Day in and Day out.

Well we've settled into our new area wonderfully. It's been great most of the time. I must admit on days that it is just me and the little one, it's hard (part of the time). The rest of the time we go swimming, on walks, we play games, watch movies and visit neighbors. In all, I love it.
Most days don't go as I plan but as long as I just go with the flow, I'm able to relax and just enjoy my life.

This summer has been insane. We've travelled a lot. I think this has been the busiest summer we have ever had. I've found that my favorite hobby is spending time with my family. I know it sounds a little odd, but most always that's all I want to do. It doesn't matter what we do. And this summer has been perfect for that. I love my family. And look forward to the many vacations we will spend together in the future.
